The State Cabinet decided to streamline the payment of old-age pension and funds shall be released to 13 lakh beneficiaries of Kushal Konwar Briddha Pension Scheme. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni, 2nd of October, 2018 coinciding with the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Eligibility for the scheme

The scheme is meant for the residents of the State of Assam, who are aged above 60. The list of omissions includes:

‘Orunodoi’ or Arunodoi Scheme is a new scheme of the Government of Assam is launched on 2nd October 2020. Under ‘Orunodoi’, monetary  benefits has been envisaged for more than 24 lac poor household in the state. The schematic benefit has been enhanced from 830/- to Rs. 1000/ Women. They will receive the amount on the first day of every month, starting from October 2020.
